A village is a clustered human settlement or community, larger than a hamlet but smaller than a town. The population typically ranges from a few hundred to a few thousand. Indonesia’s villages, including Bali, are the lowest government units under sub-districts. This area is usually led by a village head and assisted by some officials in running the government. Especially in Bali, its system is unique. Balinese village consists of several hamlets (Banjar). A hamlet usually consists of 30 to 500 families.
